Pulled from my memories of engaging with my father’s public work. What was instituted as a foundational structure for the work often lifted abstract compositions beyond my natural sightline. This got me to question whether that component was limited to its intended purpose or part of the work. In this piece I look to take that practice, rooted in a specific sculptural tradition, and complicate it by challenging its function and pull it in AS the work as opposed to serving as a means to an end.
