Building a vision for alternate futures through a deep Investment in materiality

Maxmilian Art Boyce (b. 1995, Chicago, Illinois) is a multidisciplinary sculptor working in glass, metal, and salvaged architectural debris. Through material investigations rooted in urban environments, his work interrogates the shifting boundaries between space and place, exploring how landscapes are transformed through systems of labor, extraction, repair, and memory. Boyce received his Master of Fine Arts in Glass from Tyler School of Art and Architecture and holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Loyola University New Orleans. He has exhibited nationally, including at the Da Vinci Art Alliance, Temple Contemporary, and the Pilchuck Glass School. In 2021, his public artwork Ascending Gesticulation was acquired by the City of New Orleans and permanently installed at Brechtel Park. He has recently been awarded a PAFA studio Residency in Philadelphia.
